No more pencils, no more books…

Schoooooools out for summer…. Schooooooools out forEVER!! :::Ahem::: Okay, so it’s not school, but still… Perhaps I’ve seen Dazed and Confused one too many times, but as of today, I am done with work!!

It seems like I’ve waited forever for this day. In fact, for months I’ve been saying that I didn’t care if forfeited my 2 weeks of maternity leave before the baby came because I was so anxious to meet LA. Now that I’m faced with some potential time alone to just veg and relax though, it sounds quite appealing.

I’m looking forward to getting some meals cooked and stored away in the freezer, perhaps getting a massage, and just hanging out on the couch watching Oprah. ‘

We’ll see though… knowing my luck, since I’ve changed my tune, LA will decide to arrive this weekend. (Which in all honesty would be just fine with me!)

Officially Full Term!!

Today marks 37 weeks, and the point in my pregnancy where we’re officially considered full term. Considering a normal pregnancy ranges from 37-42 weeks, this could mean absolutely nothing and I could very well be pregnant for another 4-5 weeks…. BUT we’re going to be optimistic.

The clothes are washed, the car seats installed, the bassinet is set up in our room, all we need now is a baby.

That being said; LA – consider this your 3 week warning. You’ve been cozy and warm in there for 37 long weeks, and I’ve been happy to facilitate your accommodations. However, like any arrangement, this too must come to an end. I’m going to give you some time to get used to the idea of the big bad outside world, and then I’d kindly ask that you pack your belongings and head towards the exit located to your immediate south. If you do not vacate the premises on your own in a timely manner, you will be served with an eviction notice. I really don’t want to get to that point though, so any day that you’re ready, we’re all very excited to meet you!!

So the end kinda sucks….

Not to sound like an ungrateful pregnant woman, but I’m really ready to be done with this whole pregnancy thing. I’m at the point now where I’m sleeping for maybe 45 min to an hour at a clip, between getting up to pee, flipping around from side to side, feeling like my hips are going to crumble and then staring at the ceiling for hours for no reason. I’m exhausted, and when someone tells me to get my rest now, I really want to cry. I think last night I slept for a collective 3 hrs, and I’m now sitting here at my desk ready to literally fall out on my keyboard.

I know it will be tough when the baby gets here too, so I’m not delusional about that, but at least this gigantic belly won’t be in the way… and C will be able to help out too.

The nursery is done!

After a weekend of running around to get some last minute items, LA’s nursery is complete. C was on a mission to get things done, and I seized the opportunity. They say women go through a “nesting phase” prior to labor, and I’m not sure I’ve hit it just yet, but C had his this weekend, and I’m grateful that the nursery is complete. It looks so adorable in there, I’ve found myself standing in the doorway with my hand on my belly imagining what it will be like when there is a beautiful baby to make it complete.

That being said, on Saturday we are officially full-term, and I’ve informed LA that everything is ready for his arrival, so he can feel free to make his appearance anytime after Saturday. Here are some pics of the nursery.

Family Weight Gain

At our 35 week appointment yesterday, we found out that LA already weighs 5lbs 7oz. The Dr is estimating that he’ll be about 7 – 7 1/2 lbs at birth. I’m up exactly 20 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight, and C is up 13 lbs of sympathy weight. All in all, we’re a healthy sized family right about now!

On the ultrasound yesterday, we were able to see that LA has a full head of hair floating around in there. So cute! Also explains the atrocious heartburn I’ve had! We still don’t know for sure if LA is a boy or a girl. The Dr was looking around yesterday, but we asked her not to tell us, and we couldn’t tell ourselves.

Prior to the appointment yesterday, I was at work when my boss sent out an invite for a mandatory meeting at 11:30… bummer, a crappy meeting right before lunch?? Imagine my surprise when I walked into a room full of my co-workers, my handsome hubby and my BFF! What a surprise!! We’ve been incredibly blessed by the generosity of those around us. Here are some pics…

Dang, that belly gets bigger by the day!

According to Journie

My sister-in-law had to work late on Halloween, so C and I offered to take Journie out trick or treating and to the little Halloween celebration that is put on in the center of our town. From what I understand she had really been looking forward to getting picking up from daycare by Titi (aunt in Spanish) Frista (her pronunciation of my name). The following is the conversation that ensued between Journie and I on our way home from daycare.

While we were driving, the baby started squishing up under my ribs, and I uttered under my breath “ow, ow, ow” and tried to push him down a little.

J: Titi Frista, why you say “ow, ow, ow”?
Me: Oh, the baby is just squishing me and it hurts a little.
J: It’s time for the baby to come out?
Me: Yeah, it’s getting there.
J: Today?
Me: No, not today… soon though
J: Cause we have to go trick or treat today.
Me: laughing… Yup, that’s right.
::::silence::::
J: The baby is gonna be my cousin?
Me: Yup, the baby will be your cousin. Can you say Christian?
J: Trifstan? Why, who is that name?
Me: Well, that might be the baby’s name.
:::: I look in the rear view mirror to see Journie scrunch her face up ::::
J: Why her have a boy name?
Me: Well, we don’t know yet if the baby is a boy or a girl. If the baby is a girl, her name will be Sofia.
J: emphatically. NO! Her is a girl baby, I know. Sofia.

So Journie weighs in for the record that she thinks the baby is a girl. Now if only she could tell me when this baby might think about arriving… hmmm….

Here’s some pics from Halloween night.

Journie as Tinkerbell

Patiently waiting for it to get dark with her Tio so she could start trick or treating. (For the record, he was as anxious as she was!)

Babylegs

Just the other day I was introduced to the phenomenon that is Babylegs via my message board girls. For those of you that aren’t obsessed with everything baby (ie. you’re normal) let me explain… these “babylegs” are essentially leg warmers for munchkins. They’re worn in place of pants, and are supposed to make life much easier for diaper changes, and further down the road protect the baby’s legs when he starts crawling.

Seriously, aren’t they adorable though?

Like most things, at first, I thought they were kinda silly, but then the more and more I thought about them, I became obsessed! Last night I actually had a dream about Babylegs, and how fun it will be to get super creative and make all sorts of different ones. That’s totally pathetic, I realize. In any event; if you were so inclined, and you wanted to make your own Babylegs you could click here for a tutorial. Or, if you don’t feel like making them yourself, you can buy them from the company for $12/pair by clicking here.

You have to see this!

I stumbled upon another blogger’s site today, courtesy of my online friends that reside on a particular website inhabited by a bunch of other pregnant women (scary, I know!).

In any event… I was laughing so hard at my desk that someone asked me to share… I especially love the second listing of #10, and #1 on the list literally made me spit my water out on my keyboard.

I present you with the top 10 most ridiculous baby products: Click here
