I’m really a mom.

C and I went out for our first date in…. I don’t know, beyond ages… and we had such a wonderful time. We probably wouldn’t have even made it out of the house if it weren’t for my mother in law (MIL) sitting us down a week ago and forcing us to make dinner plans with the promise of babysitting. It was the best gift we didn’t realize we needed.

When we got home at a little past 9 (crazy party animals that we are these days), L.A. was still wide awake. I tiptoed upstairs to find MIL rocking him in the dark and his eyes as big as saucers. Half laughing, she told me that he had taken 2 bottles and still wouldn’t go to sleep, that he just needed his mommy. So I changed, and then sat down in his room cradling him in the rocking chair. As I felt him fall asleep in my arms, I leaned down to kiss his head and it me so hard that I’m now somebody’s mom, and he couldn’t fall asleep without me. Should that continue down the road, I’ll probably regret it, but for now it was the most amazing feeling.

Capturing moments

Having Little C has reinspired my artistic side in a big way. Unfortunately, at this stage in my life, oil paints are out of the question. Enter my piqued interest in photography…. I’m not saying I’m good or anything, but I have convinced C that we need a “real” camera to preserve these moments.

Here are some pictures that I think came out pretty good from our photo shoot yesterday given they were all taken on my crappy point and shoot. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the subject matter is so dang cute.
