William

It has been baby central in my world lately!  I can’t complain, there’s nothing in the world like a sweet newborn baby.  William stole my heart from the minute I walked in the door, and I honestly could have edited every picture from this session because he is so darned cute.  For my sake (and his mom and dad’s) I narrowed it down to the best of the best.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Thanks for letting me spend some time with you guys!!

This was the very first picture I took of the day, and as soon as I uploaded it my heart skipped a beat.  To me, this is the very essence of having a newborn at home.

don’t you just want to kiss his little face??

and one more… because I just adore newborns in black and white.

My Life Story

In six words or less.  I was challenged by Duff over at My Mom Genes to sum up my life’s memoir in just six short words.   That’s quite the challenge if I do say so myself.

I thought long and hard about how I could possibly squish everything I wanted people to know about me in six little words.  I thought about marriage, and motherhood, and creativity, photography, and fierce love of coffee but nothing seemed to fit.  I kept coming back to this:

Entire life changed one October afternoon

I realized that people that truly know me would understand the impact of that, and for those that don’t… I married C on a beautiful October afternoon, and that single day, that one event truly has changed the course of my life in it’s entirety.

Without that day my life would be so vastly different…. we wouldn’t have L.A., I probably never would have fallen in love with photography as a result, I wouldn’t be the strong willed pain in the rear assertive woman that I am today, I wouldn’t have the same sense of self without the things my husband has brought to me and shown me in the past (almost) 2 years.

So, here it is… how about you?  Are you up for a little challenge? Christa, Nikki Kimberly?  Anyone else?  If you don’t have a blog, just leave it in the comments on this post!  I’m interested to hear what others have to say.

1. Write a six-word memoir.
2. Post it to your blog, maybe with a pic.
3. Link to the person who tagged you
4. Tag a few folks
5. Leave a comment for them with an invite to play.

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells

I can’t believe this song is stuck in my head in August.

The reason?  I was just looking at my calendar and realized that I’m almost completely booked up through the holidays.  Due to holiday turn around time and needing to enjoy the season with my own family, I will not be accepting any new appointments for 2008 after November 23rd.  As such, the following weekend dates are the only ones I have open for the remainder of the year*.

October 26th

November 9th

November 16th

If you’re interested in booking a session for holiday gifts, please contact me asap as these dates are guaranteed to go fast!

* The only exception to this is newborn photography as those sessions are time sensitive and should be done within the first two weeks of life.  Also, if you’d like to book a weekday session prior to November 23rd, please contact me to make arrangements.

Too good not to share

I have to give an ode to The Pioneer Woman.  I have no idea how the woman does it…. she has 4 children, helps tend to the family’s cattle ranch, is an amazing photographer, a wonderful cook, and a fantastic writer.  If you ever have a free afternoon and want to sit back and read a little romance, check out the ongoing tale of how she met her husband, Black Heels to Tractor Wheels.  ::swoon::

That’s not what this post is about though.  This post is about a recipe of hers I made last night.  I’ve been obsessed with pepper jack cheese lately.  Not sure why, and quite frankly I don’t think my waist line is loving this ridiculous cheese obsession, but I’ve been trying to find new recipes to use it in.  Yesterday I stumbled upon Not Your Granny’s Mac and Cheese, and oh.my.word.  It’s cheesy and a little spicy, and a whole heck of a lot yummy.  I made a few minor alterations – namely omitting the jalepenos because C isn’t a fan, and I substituted 1% milk for the heavy cream (not because I’m trying to be healthy –  what I didn’t have in cream I made up for in piles of shredded cheese – I just didn’t have any at home).

So good.  I had leftovers for lunch and it was still just as freaking good.  Go make some…. you’ll love me for it.

Joey and Ally’s Birthday

Remember these two cuties from an earlier post?  I was lucky enough to spend some time on Saturday sharing their birthday at a very cool party location, Monkey Business in Watertown, CT.  All of the kids had such a blast, and it was so fun to watch them run around and enjoy themselves.  Here are a few quick pictures of the birthday boy and birthday girl who are two years and two weeks apart!  (Bless you, Mom and Dad!)

Those eyes!!!

This little girl loves her Daddy!

Thank you again Joey and Ally for letting me share your birthday with you!  Can’t wait to see you guys in October for the Holiday Mini Sessions

What kind of a mom am I???

L.A. turns 9 months TODAY, not yesterday as mentioned in my prior post.  Seriously?!?!  I’m blaming Staycation for having my days all screwed up.  Either way, it’s still been WAY too fast.

Perspective

When you’re pregnant, 9 months seems like FOR-EV-ER.  Days go by and you wonder what your little one is going to be like, who they will resemble, what their first smile will be in response to.  Everything is so unknown, and yet despite that excitement and sense of wonder, the days seem to drag in anticipation.  They did for me, atleast.

Flash to today.  L.A. turns 9 months old today.  I swear I’ve only blinked once since he was born and now my little tiny baby is closer to being a year old, and a toddler than he is a baby.  I took a picture of him the other day and actually gasped when I uploaded it.  Who is this child, and where in the world has the time gone?

Oh, and because I was slacking on Staycation, I’m throwing a 52 weeks tag on this too.  Hey, my foot is in there, it counts, right? ;)

Sweet Sam

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting another little baby, who was also almost 4 weeks old.  I have to say all of these teeny little precious tushies aren’t doing anything good for my baby fever.  I just adore the snuggliness (that’s so not a word) of new babies.

Sam wasn’t so sure he wanted me to take his pictures, but I got some cute ones anyway.  He must be used to the camera, because his mama is a photographer too.  You can check out her site here.  For now though, here are a few of Sweet Sam.

tiny baby hands get me every time.

there’s nothing technically right about this picture, but I had to include it because it was so silly.  ”Hmm.. I guess you can take my picture”

and here’s Sam saying “Enough!”

Congrats Melissa on your new addition, you have a beautiful little family!!
