The Hat

C has this hat that he wears when he’s outside snow blowing or shoveling.  It’s just a plain hat, nothing special… but when he comes inside, it gets ripped off his head and usually winds up near the back door with his gloves and whatever shoes he was wearing.  The shoes usually find their way to another area of the house, and I pick up the gloves because a certain somebody in our house likes to chew on them.  The hat usually remains.

Enter that certain somebody who has become obsessed with his daddy’s hat… or any hat that looks remotely like it.  He will pick it up and start walking quickly, arm outstretched calling “mom” frantically.  When I take it from him and ask “Do you want to wear Daddy’s hat?” he starts laughing and clapping his arms against his side.

Once the hat is on, it’s there for hours.  I actually have a video clip somewhere of him dancing in his pjs with the hat.  I’ll share it when I can, I promise.  For now though, I present to you the boy and his (daddy’s) hat.

I was trying to get him to sit with me and have C take a shot for our 52 week project, but for the second week in a row, he wasn’t interested AT ALL.  I guess it’s an early lesson that I’ll probably sit back seat for the next 17 years or so while my child(ren) explores the world.

Oh well… at least I’m in there, right?  Sorta?  Okay… it’s a stretch.  Next week will be better, I promise!

Confession…. and an offer

Sometimes I really just have nothing interesting to blog about.  It’s been nearly a week since I last posted, and while I have a few things rolling around my head, nothing that has been wrapped up nice and neat to make it blog worthy.  I also realize that “interesting” may be a relative term here.  ;)

So, I’ve decided to go ahead and put it out there that I will answer any question left in the comments section of this post or emailed to me at crista@cristaacosta.com.  Questions can be about anything – my personal life, technical or general photography stuff, editing questions, questions about my family, my thoughts, or just random ones.

This blog gets over 150 hits a day from readers all across the world, so I’d love to hear from you!  Go ahead, ask me anything you can think of.

I plan to leave this post open until Saturday night for new questions, and then I’ll start working on all the responses.  :)

Mini C

While I was pregnant with L.A., C and I spent so much time wondering what this little baby would look like.  We both envisioned a baby with my big blue eyes, a mix of our skin tones, and a big beautiful smile just like C’s.

Instead, he was born with my milky white skin (sorry kiddo), C’s smiling eyes and a set of dimples that neither of us ever expected.  Skin tone aside, he looks EXACTLY like C looked as a baby.

Here’s some proof.  C circa 1976 and L.A. circa December.  Holy smokes, right?

He was SO not into it.

C tried to help us out with the 52 week project, but L.A. wanted no part.  So instead, here are our out takes.  Hey, it’s real life with a toddler…. running away, pulling my hair and just generally wanting to do his own thing!

10 on Tuesday

10 Random facts about me that you may or may not know.

1.  I’ve gone skydiving, but I would never in a million years bungee jump.

2.  My second toe is longer than my big toe.  My feet aren’t cute, but here’s proof (of both facts) in the form of an old picture from last May that I’ve shared before.  Notice I didn’t use the standard huge image I typically do on the blog.  You’re welcome.

3.  I have a really strange sense of intuition that almost always winds up being true, but I’m still learning to trust it.  Speaking of, I had a dream last night that P2 is a baby boy.  For what it’s worth, I only had boy dreams with L.A.

4.  I’ve never in my life eaten steak, and I highly doubt I ever will.  No real deep reasoning behind it, my parents don’t eat red meat, so it’s just never been a part of who I am.

5.  I can understand a conversation in Spanish completely, but my verbal skills stink.  I’m going to try to work on that.

6.  I hardly ever delete emails.  This gets me in trouble with both my server at work and at home.  I’m always *this close* to being at the size limit for my mailbox.  It’s a terrible habit, and I’m going to try to work on that too.

7.  I can (and do) often drive for an hour lost in my own thoughts before I realize the radio isn’t even on.  This drives my husband IN-SANE, because music is so deeply a part of who he is.

8.  I also almost never watch tv if I’m alone.  I just prefer the quiet.

9.  My favorite smell in the whole wide world is C’s aftershave.

10.  I rarely take pictures of inanimate things.  I find it far easier to showcase the beauty of a child’s shy smile or the twinkle in a new mom’s eye as she looks down on her baby.  I’ve challenged myself to get out there and play around.

Oh, and by the way – Happy Inauguration Day!!!  What a wonderful day to be an American, whatever your political views.

Nyla and Zayne | CT Child Photographer

These two could not have been any cuter, and they’re almost the same age difference that L.A. and P2 will be, so it was nice to have a sneak peek into what our crazy life will be like in a few years.  Crazy, but FUN!

I could not love this first shot any more… the look on Zayne’s face says it all!
