He’s just started showing off his beautiful blue peepers more often, and they are amazing. So new and full of wonder, and yet he has a sense of wisdom in them too. I can’t wait to get to know who this little guy is.

I totally bribed my sick child today to sit still for 3 seconds with the promise of a gigantic lollipop. I knew I had just one shot before he ran away, but it was worth trying since he usually avoids eye contact at all costs once he sees the big black camera.

Turns out, I wound up loving the lollipop pictures even more.

I’m still not sure how we got here. When exactly did my tiny baby become this little boy?

He’s my little stinker… my funny, too smart for all of our good, temperamental little brute. He doesn’t seem to know his own strength, yet has been amazingly gentle and kind with his little brother. Though I’m a little worried they’re already conspiring against me. I didn’t check for sure, but I’m willing to venture a guess as to which finger this it.

…make a great ramp for your cool orange car. ;)

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding either of the offers, I’d be happy to discuss them! I look forward to seeing you and your families in the upcoming months.
Every morning when C brings L.A. into our room to have his milk snuggling in bed with the rest of us, he sees P2 and lets out a high pitched squeal, stretches his arm out and says in an excited little voice “bra-dah, bra-dah”. Given that his vocabulary is limited to about 10 words at the moment – many of them being animal sounds, and the rest mainly only ones his father and I can understand – I think it’s pretty dang cute he’s made such an effort to learn “brother”. Sure, sometimes it sounds like “baba”, and other times he acts so excited only to get close to P2 and try to give him a whap, but for the most part, I think the little one is growing on him.
I’ve been trying for the past two weeks to get a picture of them together, but the truth is, getting a picture at all of L.A. these days is a challenge. As soon as he sees my camera the big black torture device, he runs the other way or does everything in his power to avoid eye contact. Every time I ask him if he wants to take a picture with his baby brother, he shakes his head vigorously. Last night when we got home from picking him up from daycare, he was exhausted… too exhausted from playing all day to run the other way, so I saw my opportunity and siezed it.
I quickly grabbed my camera, plunked a sleeping P2 into L.A.’s lap and snapped away with arm outstretched in case I needed to catch the baby. L.A. sat there cracking up the entire time. Apparently letting him hold his baby brother is quite hilarious… or maybe he was actually laughing at me that I was taking the chance. Either way… here they are. The height of photographic imperfection, and I love it. My two boys… bra-dahs.

1. The house is quiet.
2. C has gone back to work today, L.A. is back to daycare, and P2 is sleeping soundly next to me. Though our week home as a family of four can be summed up entirely by the picture below, I miss the chaos already, and it’s only been a few hours.

3. I’ve seen enough spit up in the past few days to last me a lifetime. Poor P2 has a serious case of reflux, and neither of us are getting much sleep. Our washing machine however, is getting a serious work out.
4. Now that we’ve had some time to settle in a little, I’ve been thinking a lot about what being a mom of two boys means. A friend of mine, who also has a son and is currently pregnant with #2 (sex unknown) said to me while I was still pregnant “It really sort of shapes the course of your life if you have two boys versus one girl and one boy”. I’ve thought about that conversation so many times since that day, and it’s so true. I can’t wait to see where our course leads.
5. If this is even a glimpse of what I have to look forward to enjoying in the next few years, I can’t wait. I love the two of them, so engaged… so into their own little world. More than anything, I love the “vroom” you can see on C’s lips. These two little boys are so lucky to have him.

6. So many people have asked how I’m feeling, and how my recovery has been… first of all, thank you for all of the inquiries, I really appreciate them. I’ve been feeling great though. I think having everyone home together helped immensely in the recovery process… even if just emotionally.
7. As I blog this, I’m enjoying an incredible pumpkin cream cheese muffin from The Black Dog Bakery on Martha’s Vineyard that my dad dropped off on his way home from the island last night. Nothing else quite reminds me of spending family time together as this little muffin does. It’s a treat that C and my dad usually pick up on their way home from an early morning fishing expedition when we spend our annual long weekend together there.
8. Just one more from the mini session I subjected C to yesterday. I love baby yawns.

9. Now that we’re entering into a quiet of new normal around here, I have lots of fun ideas for summer sessions, and plan to scout some new and interesting locations. If you happen to know of one that you think would be cool, shoot me an email, or leave it in the comments below!
10. I promised that after P2’s arrival there would be Summer Specials to celebrate. Be sure to check back this week, as I’ll have them posted by Friday at the latest!
My boys have been such troopers, indulging all my artistic photography desires in the past few weeks. This just might be one of my favorite images since P2 joined our family. This photo is so symbolic of the father C is, the man he is, the fierce loyalty and the love he has for all of us.

I missed out on L.A.’s newborn photos… in fact, wanting to capture each tiny moment as we watched him grow is what drove my passion for photography. This time around, I’ve been lucky to document P2’s every moment. Even luckier that I have a wonderful friend who is willing to share her talent with my family. A huge thank you to Christa for these images, and for freezing this moment of brand new love, with P2 snuggled close to my chest as we get to know each other.
