This sweet baby girl wasn’t so sure about settling down at first, but once she was asleep she was an absolute angel!  I hope you enjoy your sneak peek, Mom and Dad!

Since my newborn clients often book months in advance, I often try to keep my eye out for things to use during their session that are special or unique to their situation.  Since this little lady was originally due on Valentine’s Day, I picked up this hat.  Though she wound up being born a few days later, it was still absolutely perfect for her.

There are babies galore in my world right now, and I’m loving each and every minute of it.  Each new baby offers a chance to try something new, to find a way to truly connect with the family.  In a moment of downtime at Patrick’s newborn session I glanced out the window to the horses grazing in their paddock and said “Wouldn’t it be great to a shot of him asleep in the saddle?” not really sure we could do even do it, or if his mom would be interested.  Eyes lit up, and we excitedly figured out a way to make it work.  It’s exactly as I had hoped.

Oh, and from now on I think it may be a newborn session requirement for new moms to take pictures with their babies.  As I said to Patrick’s mom – You may be self critical (aren’t we all?!?) and not love it tomorrow, but I promise you that in twenty years it will be priceless.  This day, this time when they’re so small, you can never get it back.  PS- in this case, it doesn’t matter because she’s stunning.

While I consider myself lucky to document the lives of each and every one of my clients, every once in a while I come across a client who I really feel like I was meant to meet. Mary is the most recent addition to that group. She contacted me on Thursday inquiring about maternity pictures and managed to slip in that she just happened to be having a baby on Monday (as in – TODAY!). So I quickly cleared my schedule for the next day and drove to meet her. I am SO glad I did. Our time together seemed like we were old friends, and in between snapping pictures of this gorgeous mama, we also managed to put together her co-sleeper. That’s right, I’m a multi talented photographer!

I am so beyond psyched to meet the sweet little girl who has been occupying this beautiful belly!

Here’s a flashback to one of my favorite nurseries from 2009.

When the little guy was born, he not only had a full head of hair, but he was rocking a serious baby mullet.  Over the past nine months, it’s continued to grow at warp speed until just last week C and I looked at each other and said – we have to do something about this.  It was out of control.  So we headed off to see Betsy at Scissor Kids (the best kid’s haircuts in CT!!!).

At first, there was a little confusion.  He wasn’t really sure what was going on…

It didn’t take long for him to figure it out though… this is how the rest of the haircut went.

C grabbed this shot at the end of me and my baby – all trimmed up looking like a little politician.  How did he get to be nine months already?!?!

On Friday I got to meet another adorable Colin.  This little guy was just 6 days old, which happens to be the very best day to photograph most newborns.  Colin did not disappoint, he was an absolute doll the entire time I was there and it’s clear that his parents are smitten.  I’m not going to lie – I was too.  :)

Born in the midst of a snow squall to parents who love to ski, this little guy could not be any sweeter. Congratulations on your beautiful boy, D and M. He is absolutely adorable.
