Maeve | CT Newborn Photographer

I often find myself wrapped up in conversation at my newborn sessions, talking to parents about their new babies and swapping war stories of delivery with moms.  I truly believe that how babies decide to enter this world is a peek into who they are going to become.  From my own experience, I had one crazy delivery that yielded a crazy little boy, and one very calm low key delivery with a laid back baby to match. Maeve decided to stay put for 13 days after her expected delivery – that’s almost two weeks, people!!!  She clearly is going to be the one calling the shots in her life, a headstrong little leader.  At our session she tried to avoid all my sleepy tactics, but after eating and a bit of rocking (the best part of my job) she was down for the count.

Not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but I adore peely newborn feet.  It’s a sign of being so brand spanking new, and it goes away so fast.

If you have a moment and want to do some retail therapy on this gloomy Friday, go check out the etsy shop of Maeve’s mama.  She has some serious talent with her adorable baby items and hand made purses.

Comforts of Fall

Fall has always been my favorite season.  When C and I got engaged, there was no question in my mind that we would get married in the fall.  I love the colors of the leaves, the smell of the air, warm cozy sweaters, and my super comfy LLBean slippers.  I look forward to trading my ice waters for hot cups of tea that I will wrap my hands around and breathe in deeply before I sip.  I love the way the cool crisp air seeps into through the windows at night forcing me to snuggle down further into the covers.  I love crockpot meals simmering in the kitchen, and putting the boys to bed in their feetie pajamas (here’s an oldie but goodie – oh that L.A.’s pigs once fit in those sweet jammies!).

Last weekend we took the kids apple picking at Bushy Hill Farm in Granby, and despite my love of everything Autumn, it was my first time – all of our first times, actually.  We rode the bumpy tractor ride out to the orchard all laughing as we bounced along.  Once let loose, the kids ran and ran… stopping to refuel with apples before giggling and jetting off.  Once we had our sack filled, we headed back down for some fresh apple donuts and then made our way home.  The two big ones helped me make apple crisp that night, enjoyed with a nice dollup of ice cream before C and I put them to bed and snuggled on the couch under a big blanket.

I’ve been loving our little point and shoot camera for days like this – when I don’t want to carry the big one, and I know I don’t have the time in my schedule to edit our family photos.  I just can’t miss the memories… especially Fall memories.

Kaleb | CT Newborn Photographer

I’ve been buuuuuusy.  Shooting 4-5 (sometimes more) sessions a week and loving it!!  Sadly, this has left me a little back on my blogging.  This week should get me all caught up to date though, so if you’re waiting for your own session – keep checking!

In the meantime, going back a few weeks now when we were in the midst of that crazy heat wave I met this adorable little man.  His mom contacted me way back in February when she was just pregnant (LOVE that!) and we’ve been waiting for him ever since.  Their house had an amazing covered front porch – the kind I imagine sitting on a rocking chair and holding hands with your love as evening starts to fall.  Since it was so hot and muggy outside, we did the entire session right there on the front porch.  After a quick top off, Kaleb was in his glory, snoozing away outside in this comfy little nest.

The B Family | CT Family Photographer | CT Children’s Photography

The last time I saw this clan all together, Duff and I were both super pregnant with our little boys and her maternity session yielded what is still one of my favorite maternity images.  Last week I finally got to meet her little guy in person and catch up with the rest of the family.

I love him.  Oh, and for the record – I didn’t touch his eyes at all, they really are that beautiful ocean blue.  Gorgeous!

Just for fun… the tiny dancer and mini John Travolta ;)

And lastly, Jillie.  When people talk about a wise soul and how it’s something you can’t quite put your finger on, this is the look that gives it away.

Jordyn | CT Newborn Photographer

Do you remember this perfectly pregnant little mama?  Well…. I was right, just after having this sweet baby girl, she slipped back into her skinny jeans in the hospital.  Moms everywhere – let out a sigh with me – it’s just not fair!!  PS – is it just me or is Melissa not a serious Sandra Bullock look alike?  Again – not fair!

Onto sweet Jordyn though… 5 peanutty pounds of perfection.

Mark and Jenny | CT Engagement Photos

Mark and Jenny are getting married in just a few weeks at the historic Red Lion Inn, and I can’t wait.  We met up a few weeks ago for some sweet engagement photos, and despite saying they were shy in front of the camera, they nailed it!

I have a TON of sessions to share with you this week, I’m up to my eyeballs in editing!
