I love me some little Jake. I’ve been photographing him since he was a wee little one, and he’s so full of energy and jokes now. I always look forward to spending time with him, and his dapper wardrobe and perfect politeness are just a bonus!
And for sillies… here Jake is demonstrating Spiderman’s amazing webs for me.
Please take this post as an example of my love for the sitting-but-not-walking age. When I met Audrey, I could not get enough of her. The smiles, the rolly chub of a baby who has yet to master movement, the hair, the sparkly eyes! Oh, I could gush forever… suffice it to say this was a “mini” session that wound up with a gallery a lot more like a full session. Sometimes, I just can’t help myself with the cuteness. Again on this one, I’ve tried to hold back on sharing my very favorite shots in respect of the almighty holiday card. ;)
One of my favorite little peanuts… I’m always a little bummed when my Baby Steps clients complete their first year, especially when it’s clients like these… don’t get me wrong, I celebrate the first year right alongside them, but I know I’ll miss seeing them grow every few months. Addie is obviously absolutely adorable, but what I hope you can sense through pictures is just how awesome her parents are too. From the very first time I met them, I blogged about how comfortable being in their home was. How it just felt like being with old friends, and that feeling has never changed. If anything, it’s grown. They know about my life, I get a little peek into theirs, and this time we chatted about our mutual love of all things pumpkin. If you know me at all, you know these are my kind of people! So to some of my very favorite clients, thank you so much for having me in your lives to capture your beautiful little girl’s first year!
When you cross a referral from one of my favorite families, two gorgeous parents and a sweet little two year old boy on a perfect October morning, you get this. A quick sampling, and I’m going to be honest… I saved most of my super favorite shots for the family’s viewing only since I know holiday cards are right around the corner. Enjoy!

Mini sessions are always so much fun. I go in a little overwhelmed about the thought of photographing a bunch of families and children in a short time frame, and come out feeling all warm and fuzzy that I’ve been able to catch up with some of my favorite families. A few of these little babies, I hadn’t seen since their newborn sessions, and it’s always such a joy to see how they’re changing into their own little people.
And in the spirit of keeping it real (because you know I always do!)… mini sessions aren’t always super easy. When I have a full session with children, it gives them some time to warm up to me, to laugh, and for me to let them feel comfortable. Minis can be more challenging in that you have to make that connection WAY faster. Sometimes though, getting the pouts are just as adorable…. and what’s even funnier, is the frame immediately after this cute scowl is the one above where she’s beaming. Kids are SO silly!!
Once upon a time I met you when you were just a few days old and I thought you were the sweetest thing ever. But THEN I met you again last week, and you stole my heart with your cute smiles and baby gurgles, telling stories that only you understand. You’re the cutest!! The end.
When I married my husband, I also married into a huge group of his friends from high school. All those high school buddies have amazing wives, and now when we all get together, it’s less late nights at the bar and more beautiful children running around in the afternoon. I’m so grateful to be a part of that big group, and the added bonus is that I often get the opportunity to photograph those beautiful children… like these two cuties.
