Another set of Baby Planners! Can’t believe these two little guys are already one. It seems like just weeks ago that I finally met them after their unexpected early arrival into the world. Spending the morning with them and their amazing parents was a blast. I’m so lucky to have such amazing clients!
Recently I’ve had a string of graduating baby planners. Little ones who I have watched grow over the past year from tiny newborns to sweet babies now on the cusp of toddlerhood. Much like I do with my own children, I celebrate these Baby Steps graduates while at the same time feeling a little sad. It’s so amazing to watch a child grow and transform over their first year. Julian is no exception. He was one of my easiest, sleepiest newborns and then one of the smiliest six month babies, and here he is now so full of personality and with SO much more hair than the last time I saw him!!
He’s quite possibly in the running for my favorite little dude (aside from my own two peanuts). I love this family so much they show up in my dreams – true story, and not at all as creepy as it sounds. I’ve been photographing Jake every six months since he was just six months old, and when you have that kind of a committed connection to a client’s family, they sort of become an extension of your own. I adore this little guy, with his sparkly blue eyes and his silly almost three year old sense of humor. Catching up with his mom about the happenings of our lives is a lot more like reconnecting with an old friend, and I’m fairly certain if we lived a tad closer we’d have some nice leisurely lunches together. In short, I am blessed to be a tiny part of their little family, to freeze these moments as they pass all too quickly. To watch them grow.
I love mini sessions. Sure, they’re kind of hectic days, and timing needs to be managed to a T, but they’re FUN!! It’s such a great way to reconnect with old clients, and meet new ones, and pack a great amount of pictures into a short amount of time.
Since I first photographed Kennadi back in the late summer, our families have become close friends. I’m not going to lie… I love all children, but this little peanut often makes me yearn for a mop topped little girl to be toddling around our house. Her mom likes to remind me that it’s not quite so cute at 2 am, but seriously?!? Who can say no to this sweet face with her big brown eyes and infectious smile?
The serious little ballerina… right after I shot this frame, she walked over to me for a quick hug and some snuggles. Love her.
Back in the early summer, I was contacted by Jenn of Kennadi’s Closet to do a session for her sweet kiddos. Kennadi’s Closet is a new children’s consignment shop right down in the center of Windsor, located next to the train station. It’s an amazing old brick building, and Jenn has a huge selection of clothing, toys, strollers – you name it, she’s got it. Jenn told me about her idea of using portraits of her own children as art for the shop’s exposed brick walls, and I was sold. We were both excited, and then weather – sick kids – traveling husbands – you name it, it seemed we were doomed to ever actually make the session happen. Somewhere along the way after exchanging tons of emails, we decided to get our families together (our husbands play basketball together) and a new friendship was born – yay for that! Finally last week we were able to make their photo session happen, and it was worth every minute of the wait.

…and the star of the show – Miss Kennadi herself. I could eat this little one up, I swear. She is SUCH a doll.
My little buddy… I’ve been photographing Jake since before he could sit up, and several other times along the way. Now here he is fast approaching his second birthday! This is a shoot I would have love to have a video of to share with you so that you could see the crazy antics I go through to get these little cuties to look and smile at my camera. We sang every Disney song I know, pretended we were jamming in a band, and at one point I was playing a serious game of make believe with this little guy. I love this age… it’s full of so much intelligence and innocence at the same time. I had so much fun with you guys, K. Hope you love your photos!
And, just for a cute outtake of toddlerism for Mommy to remember… at just under two years old, when you ask Jake to smile, this is the face he makes. I love him.
